I have been stitching since I was about 9 years old. I joined the Embroiderers Guild in 1976, becoming very involved in the Newbury Branch. There I learnt so much from many truly inspirational teachers, but especially Val Campbell Harding. After a career in medicine, I completed part 1 City and Guilds in Embroidery at Missenden Abbey, and then Part 2 at Windsor.
My current work is inspired by the excitement I have always felt when hunting for fossils, one of my Father’s favourite occupations. How to capture the thrill of cracking open a stone and finding inside the fossilised image of an ancient animal that no human had ever seen until the moment that the stone broke. I have begun a journey to explore the secrets of stone.
I am also interested in community projects and have recently finished project managing a complex embroidery for the West Berkshire Community Hospital which involved 322 people.
