Gwen Earl
Gwen takes her inspiration from natural forms and their evolutionary change through life cycles of growth and decay. She is particularly interested in exploring her subject matter through extensive drawing and painting. She uses stitch to enrich and develop her work, introducing both hand and machine stitch in her textile pieces. A foundation course in art and design awoke an early interest in drawing and printmaking based on living forms that Gwen has pursued over the years. Having completed her City and Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Embroidery at Great Missenden in 2004, she continues to develop her personal style through investigation of the ways in which stitch can provide additional meaning to her drawing.
