Carol Griffin
I enjoy working with a variety of different materials but in particular with handmade papers, wires, translucent fabrics and plastics. Areas of interest focus on layering, overlapping and manipulating techniques such as folding and pleating.
I gain inspiration from a wide variety of sources both real and imagined. Following inspirational courses of creative study at Wiltshire College, Trowbridge my work was highly commended by City and Guilds, and was awarded a prize by The Worshipful Company of Broderers in 2004.
My most recent work was inspired by Daniel McNeill’s quote from his book, The Face: “Lips are the spice of the face, twin ruddy bulges separated by the dark line of the mouth like a pair of cushions….” The repeated motif features in much of my work with this being no exception.
