Carol A Dowsett
‘I originally trained as a fashion and shoe designer gaining a BA from Kingston College of Art. After several years of freelance design commissions, writing fashion reports for Australia and Japan and making costumes for BBC productions, I started teaching. A fascination for computers and their ability to generate pattern and designs for textiles in a new way, was to culminate in me being a founder member of The Computer Textile Design Group. My main interest is in the surface decoration and embellishment of fabrics using dyeing and printing and all my work includes digital and scanned imagery recreated on cloth. My hangings have been selected for exhibitions nationally and in Europe. My recent solo exhibition in Dorset has reinforced my love of tulips and computer manipulation.’
